What you can expect from a Trager® session

When you come for your first Trager session you can expect to fill out a brief intake form and spend some time chatting with me. We can discuss the Trager approach, how you are feeling, how you would like to feel, and any other questions or concerns you may have. We may explore some movements, or Mentastics®, before you get on the session table. This exploration is actually where the session begins, where relaxation through awareness can start entering your body. You can remain clothed for the portion of the session that takes place on the table because this approach does not use oils. It works with the nervous system, with the unconscious mind, to let go of unnecessary tensions and create patterns of ease. Rather than pushing the muscles into letting go, the Trager approach re-educates the body about how to relax by giving it the experience of relaxation. After the table work you get to notice how you are feeling and how it compares to how you felt at the beginning of the session; any comfort and ease that you have found are yours to keep – now your body knows how to feel that!

You can choose either a 60-minute or 90-minute session. This refers to time on the table; please allow up to 30 minutes more for intake and Mentastics.

Contraindications & Precautions

Trager is safe for most people, and can be tailored to work with almost any physical condition. However, there are a few situations in which this work is not recommended. Trager may not be good for you in the following situations:
